Honoring Service, Celebrating Home This Fourth of July
As we celebrate the Fourth of July and the 250-year celebration of America, we’re taking time to honor the people who have served our country and helped shape the spirit of our community.
This year, our veteran series highlights two incredible local veterans, Colonel Fred Erickson and Devon Kiernan, whose stories remind us that patriotism starts with service, sacrifice, and a deep sense of home.
In our conversation with Colonel Fred Erickson, he reflects on his years of service, the meaning of home, and the values that continue to guide him today. His story is a powerful reminder that home is more than a place. It’s the people, memories, and sense of belonging that stay with us through every season of life.

We also had the honor of sitting down with Devon Kiernan, a former Army National Guard member and retired Secret Service agent. After more than three decades of protecting presidents and serving around the world, Devon shared a perspective that feels especially meaningful this time of year, that home isn’t defined by size or location, but by the joy, family, and community within it. His continued service through organizations like Folds of Honor is another example of the lasting impact of giving back.

AND STAY TUNED...
On July 1, we’ll continue that spirit of patriotism by passing out 4,200 American flags to homes throughout Steiner Ranch. It’s a tradition that reflects what makes this community so special, neighbors coming together to celebrate freedom, honor service, and show love for country in a visible and meaningful way.
Community patriotism is about more than symbols. It’s about remembering those who served, teaching the next generation the value of freedom, and creating moments that bring people together. As the flags line the streets of Steiner Ranch, they’ll stand as a shared expression of gratitude, unity, and pride.
We’re proud to celebrate this season by honoring our veterans, serving our neighbors, and recognizing the values that make America, and our community, strong.
Happy Fourth of July.
